Watermelon Peel Jam

Preparation time: 10 minutes

Cooking time: about 2 hours

Difficulty: low

To make this delicious jam, we need a few straightforward ingredients:


  • 1 Kg of watermelon peels
  • 400 grams of sugar


  • With a small knife with an excellent tip, we separate the green part of the watermelon from the white one
  • We put the white pulp in a pot together with the sugar and cook for about 2 hours
  • We place them in previously sterilized glass jars.

Composed Of Watermelon Skins

Preparation time:  10 minutes

Cooking time:  1 hour

Difficulty:  low

While the jam is perfect for sweet recipes, the compote is ideal for eating with a spoon or accompanying vegetables and cheeses. Let’s see how to do it:


  • 1 kg of watermelon peels
  • 1 ripe apple
  • 200 grams of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of ginger
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • The juice of half a lemon
  • The zest of half a lemon


  • Remove the green part of the peel and cut the white piece into chunks
  • Wash the apple, remove the peel and cut it into thin slices
  • Grate the lemon zest
  • Combine all the ingredients in a large pot and cook for about 1 hour
  • After the necessary time, fill the jars and keep

Candied Watermelon Peel

Preparation time:  60 minutes

Cooking time:  95 minutes

Difficulty:  medium

A straightforward recipe with a particular taste to preserve the skins of our watermelons and use them to decorate cakes and sorbets.


  • 500 gr of watermelon peels
  • 500 grams of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 100 ml of water
  • 100 gr of coarse salt


  • Remove the green watermelon peel with the help of a thin knife.
  • Immerse large pieces of white watermelon pulp in a container with water and salt for 24 hours, changing the water every 6/8 hours
  • Cut the watermelon peels into strips and dry them well.
  • Then, put 100 ml of water and the sugar to dissolve in a saucepan and pour the strips of watermelon peel until they caramelize.
  • Let them dry completely, and then put them to cool on baking paper soaked in water so that they do not stick.
